Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
ref. - Heb 12:14 - Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Here is the first thing in this sermon that contradicts the ways of old thinking. How can we make peace with those that war against us? In the days of old we would gather up swords and conquer, but there was never peace. But in Jesus Christ we are told to make peace with all men? How can we do that? There are many ways to accomplish peace but what if the other side will not be peaceful? Our answers lie right in the commandment that Christ gave us; a peacemaker does not always bring peace with all men, but he follows it. He does what he can and his intentions are to promote peace. He is a problem solver. He is the bearer of good tidings. Rather than creating war, he finds a way to bring peace. Now, do not take this wrong, in many instances the enemy must be conquered before peace will come, but this is where the Spirit of God comes into the picture. If we are living in holiness then we will be filled with the same Spirit that is in Jesus Christ. We will know when to fight and when to compromise, we will know when to attack and when to retreat, and we will also know when to be bold and when to be meek. You see, we can follow peace in the ways that the world has shown us and we will never find it. Peace lies within the Spiritual realm and it can only be achieved in Jesus Christ. So if we want to be peacemakers, we must be examples and disciples of Jesus Christ. If we can just possess this same Spirit that has brought us peace, we will follow peace with others as well. And, in turn, we will be called children of God. Seek his Spirit and be a peacemaker, the results will be out of this world!!! Have a great day!!!
