The Sermon on the mount(cont'd)

Matthew 7:2

For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured you again.

ref. - Mk 4:24 - And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

Lk 6:38 - Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

This verse takes us right back to the saying, "Treat others as you would want to be treated". Put yourself in the shoes of those who you are looking down upon and determine how you would like to be treated. Sometimes rather than to listen to the murmurings of others we should go directly to the source and find out what the truth is. This before we come to conclusions and then find out that the bandwagon that we are jumping on is not of God. If we do end up following gossip and murmuring other than truth, we will not only be judged but we will also find ourselves outside of the will of God. So before we jump to conclusions and do or say things that will be with us forever, we should listen carefully and find the truth. We have no control over eternal judgment but we can judge what we are going to listen to and who we are going to follow. If we choose to follow the scripture when someone causes an offense, we will be on the right side of God. But we must also be ready to be treated the same way when we are on the other side of the offense. Practice what we preach and expect the same preaching to come down on us when we are at fault. Let us put this as simple as we can today, and take heed to what it says. We are given free will to cast our own judgment. God allows us that. So we are told of Jesus Christ, his forgiveness, his salvation, his instructions, etc. We have an opportunity to judge whether we believe them to be true or, in actuality, to even believe in Him. If we do believe in him then we will follow him and become obedient to what he teaches. In this we will be eligible and receive the promises that he has told us we will be given. Or, we can choose not to believe in him or his teaching or anything to do with him and be ineligible and not receive any of the promises that he has to offer. One day, we will stand before him and he will either cast us into hell or welcome us into his kingdom. What we judged to be true or false will determine where we go when we reach his judgment. You see, there is no other that has control over eternity. So our choices that we made in how to treat Jesus Christ will someday come back to judge us. This is no different than how we treat one another. If it is righteous and according to scripture how we act and react to one another, then it is right and we can expect the results that we are promised in Jesus Christ. But if we go outside the boundaries of the gospel of Christ and perform our own worldly judgment then we will also be judged by the world as we have stepped outside of God's will and entered back into the world. This is not the place for any of God's people and it is not his will. This is why we are being warned still, even two thousand years later, to be careful who and what we listen to, and to be careful how we react to what we hear, and to make sure that the things that we do are within the teachings of Christ and in God's will. Have a great day!!!
