Daily Bread 11-6-18
Proverbs 3:13-20
13. Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
14. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
15. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
16. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honor.
17. Her ways are of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
18. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
19. The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
20. By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

v.18 - Gen 2:9 - And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
v.19 - Jer 10:12 - He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
v.20 - Job 36:28 - Which the clouds do drop and distil on man abundantly.
Wisdom. Not the wisdom of the world that can be found on every corner, but God's wisdom, that can only be found through Jesus Christ. And understanding, not to be learned from text books in a schoolroom, but through the Holy Spirit of God and in the Holy Bible. You see, we can own a Bible and we can follow around wise people, but without the Holy Spirit, there is no understanding for ourselves. But to have this wisdom, and to possess this knowledge is worth more to our souls than anything that can be found on this earth or out of it's inhabitants. If we wish to prosper in the courts of our God, then our time should be spent seeking for his wisdom and his understanding, rather than seeking gifts that can be seen and acknowledged of worldly men. If we want true happiness and peace to enter our lives then we must understand what this world is about and why many things happen, and most of all, where our position is in all of it. This is where we need to call on God and open his Holy Word for his wisdom. We cannot obtain this wisdom or this knowledge from this earth and at any price, it is a gift of God and it will be distributed to those who come in faith and obedience. Many men have studied for their whole lives and do not know the mysteries and oracles of God, they only know what someone else has shown them. It is not in them. This is why we need to possess, or be possessed, by the Holy Ghost. Our lives and our spiritual wealth lies in wisdom and understanding. When a man is given wisdom from God it becomes the most precious part of that man, and he cherishes it. It is something that, no matter our stature on this earth, we can be given that will take us to the high and lofty places in understanding of Christ Jesus and his will in our lives. By his knowledge the whole world was made, and so will wisdom in us create our whole world. Our world and what is important to us from the inside. Wisdom will also tell us what to destroy in our lives and what to get rid of. But no matter whether wisdom and understanding add to or take away from our inner being and our lives, we will know that it is God's will and that no matter the circumstance we will find a way to be content and to retain what we have learned and experienced so that we, too , can be led down that straight and narrow path that leads to eternity.
